Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Ferran Torres has moved out of the shadows and into the negotiation room.

Spanish newspaper Sport reported earlier that PSG assured Torres they were ready to beat any contract-renewal offer Barcelona might present. PSG’s need is clear. With Gonçalo Ramos gone, Luis Enrique wants a forward who can plug several gaps at once. At 25, he sits in the sweet spot for a club like PSG: old enough to have been hardened by pressure, young enough to grow into the next phase of their project. Inside the French champions’ corridors, his name has risen to the top of Luis Enrique’s list precisely because of that blend of age, output and tactical flexibility.
