Ipswich Town Unveils 2026/27 Kits with Community Focus
Ipswich Town have rolled out their new look for the 2026/27 Premier League season, unveiling home and away strips that lean heavily on history, atmosphere and a clear nod to the club’s community roots.
Home shirt: under the lights
The home kit is built around a simple idea: Portman Road at night.
Town say the design “takes inspiration from the atmospheric evening games under the Portman Road lights”, and that theme runs through the shirt. An embossed graphic mirrors the pattern formed by the structure between the floodlights on both the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey Stands, a subtle texture that gives the traditional blue a modern edge.
Navy trim sharpens the neckline and sleeves, while white side panels cut down the torso and bleed into a blue side trim on the white shorts. The look finishes with blue socks, topped by a white-and-blue turnover that ties the set together.
It’s familiar, but not safe. It’s clearly Ipswich, clearly Portman Road.
Away kit: a bolder echo of the ‘Abbot Ale’ era
If the home strip leans into the stadium’s glow, the away kit digs into the club’s wardrobe.
Town have reached back to the much-loved 1996–98 cream and black “Abbot Ale” away shirt, but flipped the script. The cream base remains, yet the solid black vertical stripes of the 90s have gone. In their place: horizontal red and black bands that give the shirt a sharper, more aggressive profile.
The badge follows the theme. Just as it did in the late-nineties, the crest is rendered in red and black, sitting cleanly against the cream. Black shorts and black socks with a cream turnover complete a kit that feels like a deliberate bridge between eras rather than a simple remake.
Sponsors, supplier shift and what comes next
Both shirts carry the logo of main sponsor Halo across the chest, with Ed Sheeran’s Play tour logo on the sleeve, continuing a high-profile association that has become part of Town’s visual identity in recent seasons.
Umbro, now into a fifth consecutive year with the club, again supply the strips. That run is expected to end next summer, with Nike tipped to take over as technical partner. A third kit will follow once the new campaign is up and running, adding another layer to what promises to be a significant year for Town’s off-field branding.
Kits on sale – and a boost for Suffolk’s grassroots
The launch is not just about replica sales. Town have used the occasion to push money back into the game that feeds them.
Every club in Suffolk has been offered a grant towards their youth team kit for the new season, a sizeable commitment aimed squarely at grassroots football in the county. Representatives from around 40 clubs that have already taken up the offer were at Portman Road for the unveiling, sharing the stage with first-team players from both the men’s and women’s squads.
It turned a standard kit reveal into a snapshot of the club’s pyramid: from Premier League to park pitches, all in one place.
Sizes, sales and the first rush
The full range is already on sale online and at Planet Blue. Men’s, women’s and youth sizes are all available, with adult shirts running from S through to 5XL and women’s fit from size 8 to 20. Children’s mini-kits are also on the racks.
Planet Blue opens from 3.15pm to 8pm today, then 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, while the shirts will also be available at the Halo Festival at Trinity Park on Saturday.
One detail will have to wait. Shirt printing with names from the men’s and women’s teams will only be available once squad numbers for the new campaign are confirmed.
The kits are here. The numbers, the line-ups, the stories that will be written in them – those arrive when the Premier League whistle blows.
