Jamal Musiala Faces Health Concerns in Bayern Munich Friendlies

Jamal Musiala suffered a second worrying scare in four days on Tuesday night, cutting short his appearance in Bayern Munich’s 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim after feeling unwell again.

The 21-year-old came off the bench on the hour mark, but within four minutes he was on the turf, surrounded by concerned team-mates and opponents as medics rushed on. Players from both sides formed a circle around the midfielder while he received treatment, a stark image in what was supposed to be a routine pre-season outing.

After several minutes, Musiala was able to leave the pitch under his own power, walking off to a ripple of relief. The unease, though, did not disappear.

This was not an isolated incident. On Saturday, in the closing stages of Bayern’s friendly against RB Leipzig, Musiala had already alarmed the club once. Shortly after coming on, he sat down on the grass and required assistance from several emergency responders on the sideline.

The reaction then was immediate and anxious. Team-mate Ismael Saibari was among those visibly worried as staff attended to the Germany international. Eventually Musiala managed to leave the pitch without help, easing fears but not answering any questions.

“He is doing well now. And that is the most important thing. Beyond that, we cannot say too much about it yet,” Eberl told Sport1.

Since then, Musiala has not publicly addressed the two episodes, both coming shortly after his introductions from the bench in consecutive friendlies.

Bayern now head into Saturday’s German Super Cup showdown with Borussia Dortmund with a cloud hanging over one of their most important players. The result will matter, as it always does against Dortmund. But all eyes will first turn to whether Musiala is simply available – and fully fit – when the season’s first piece of silverware goes on the line.
