Jeremy Doku Commits to Manchester City with New Five-Year Deal

Manchester City has officially announced that Belgian winger Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract, securing his future at the Etihad Stadium through to 2031. The extension comes as the club begins a fresh chapter under manager Enzo Maresca.

A Key Player for City’s Attack

The 24-year-old has become central to City's offense since joining from Stade Rennais in 2023. This new deal places him alongside other stars like Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, and Abdukodir Khusanov, who also renewed their commitments this summer.

"I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling," Doku said. "This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do. It’s hard to explain just how much this club does to help players."

Building Around Doku in the Maresca Era

The timing of this renewal is a major boost as Enzo Maresca takes charge, reportedly keen to design his attacking strategy around Doku's blistering pace and unique talents. The winger shared his excitement about the new coach’s style and the team’s direction.

"With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players. The City fans are also a huge reason I have signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and it means the world to me. I want to focus on bringing them the success they deserve."

Club Praise for Doku’s Development

Director of Football Hugo Viana expressed strong admiration for Doku’s growth since his arrival, highlighting both his talent and character.

"Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see. He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team. Jeremy is also a fantastic person. He is someone loved across the club. His attitude is first class, and he wants to improve every single day. He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years."

Doku’s Impact Since Arriving in England

Doku’s debut season was remarkable. He made history against Bournemouth by becoming the youngest Premier League player to record four assists and five goal involvements in one match. Over 40 appearances that season, he scored six goals and provided 11 assists, helping City clinch their fourth straight league title.

During a tougher 2024-25 campaign, he remained a dependable figure, finishing with eight goals and nine assists while showing greater maturity and defensive awareness. By 2025-26, under Pep Guardiola’s final year, Doku was crucial in securing a domestic cup double, including a key equalizer and assist in the FA Cup semi-final versus Southampton.
