Jose Mourinho Shows Printed Photos to Protest Refereeing After Real Madrid’s Derby Loss

Jose Mourinho, manager of Real Madrid, expressed his frustration by presenting printed photos of key moments following his team's 2-1 loss to rivals Atletico Madrid. The defeat deepened their gap behind league leaders Barcelona, who now hold a six-point advantage in LaLiga.

Mourinho targeted the officials for overlooking two potential red cards against Atletico Madrid in the first half. This outcome came just days after a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis, intensifying pressure on the Real Madrid coach.

"We can skip the press conference because the story of the match is right here," Mourinho said, holding up images highlighting the incidents he felt were unjustly ignored."Those were two clear red cards. Considering we then played 11 against 10, imagine what it would have been like with 50 minutes of 11 against nine."

Despite the disappointment, Mourinho praised his players' effort and spirit during the game.

"I’ll just limit myself to hugging my players, who gave everything and showed great character in the first half, setting us up well for the second half," he added.

The coach expressed hope that the refereeing mistakes were unintentional rather than deliberate.

"I want to believe these are just mistakes, like those a coach or player might make," Mourinho said."I liked my team as a whole. Even in the first half, I appreciated their performance, and although it was tough to get the ball in the second half due to Atletico's possession, I admired their pride and determination. I'm not disappointed in my players."

Diego Simeone Calls for Respect After Victory

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone declined to engage in a public dispute, instead urging fellow managers to show respect in their comments about referees and each other.

"We are in a privileged position with much public attention," Simeone stated."Whether it's Mourinho, [Hansi] Flick, [Manuel] Pellegrini, me, or anyone else, we must be careful with our words. We need to respect referees and colleagues because crossing that line isn’t right. Everyone loses when respect is broken."
