Kim Min-jae's Transfer Situation: Manchester United vs Juventus

Kim Min-jae has emerged as a live option for Manchester United’s defensive rebuild – but Juventus currently have their nose in front.

According to Bild football chief Christian Falk, the Bayern Munich centre-back features on United’s shortlist as the club weigh up reinforcements at the heart of their back line. United’s interest is real, but they are not alone, and not leading.

In Italy, the mood is different. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are out in front and that the 29-year-old has already given the green light to a move to Turin, where a reunion with former Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti awaits. The appeal is obvious: a league he knows, a coach who trusted him, and a club desperate to restore its old defensive aura.

That puts United in a familiar position: watching, waiting, ready to move if the door opens.

For now, that door is only ajar. Kim remains under contract with the German champions and, crucially, is said to be content with his current status as a squad player at Bayern. There is no transfer request, no public agitation, no clear push from the player’s side to force a move.

So the equation is simple. If Juventus complete the deal, United will look elsewhere. If talks in Turin stall or collapse, Old Trafford could quickly become a serious alternative, with United prepared to open negotiations over a transfer.

Kim’s future, then, sits at the crossroads of three giants – Bayern, Juventus and Manchester United – with the defender himself in no rush to slam any door shut.
