The night that should have belonged entirely to Lamine Yamal’s footballing rise took a dark turn back home.

Just hours after helping the National Team book their place in the World Cup final, the young Barça star became the target of an attempted break-in at his house in Esplugues de Llobregat.

It was around four in the morning when the calm of the residential area cracked. Security staff monitoring the property’s cameras spotted two intruders, both wearing balaclavas, trying to scale the wall surrounding the house. The images left little doubt: this was no casual trespass.

Security personnel alerted the Mossos d'Esquadra straight away. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has already taken charge of the case, which is currently being treated as an attempted burglary with force.
