Coach Thomas Tuchel's Decision

Thomas Tuchel, England's manager, revealed that Gibbs-White was close to making the squad earlier. Now, the 26-year-old is set to replace 24-year-old Palmer, who plays for Chelsea. Palmer had been recalled after being controversially omitted from England’s World Cup team.

Tuchel mentioned Palmer needed to prove himself and justify his selection, but with his recent withdrawal, the forward will miss the extended international break where England has four matches scheduled.
