Napoli Eyes Chelsea Defender Benoit Badiashile for Serie A Move

Benoit Badiashile, the Chelsea centre-back, has reportedly attracted interest from Napoli following an injury to their defender Alessandro Buongiorno. The Frenchman, who joined Chelsea in January 2023 for 35 million, once held promise as a key defensive signing under BlueCo ownership.

Despite this, Badiashile's time at Chelsea has been marred by injuries and uneven performances, resulting in reduced playing time across multiple managerial regimes. Although Xabi Alonso recently took charge with hopes of revitalising the squad, Badiashile is not included in his plans. Across three and a half years, he has made 71 appearances but could soon see his chapter at Stamford Bridge come to an end.

Details of Napoli's Interest and Potential Offer

The Sun reports that Napoli are keen to bring Badiashile to Serie A and might propose a three-year contract to him. The 25-year-old defender seems open to a move ahead of the 2026-27 season. Last season, his involvement was limited to just 16 matches, eight of which were in the Premier League.

Transfer Fee Expectations Amid Chelsea's Valuation

Chelsea may look for around 20 million to avoid a loss on Badiashile, who remains under contract until 2030 after signing a seven-and-a-half-year deal in 2023. This valuation contrasts with the 30-35 million price tag attached to Trevoh Chalobah, another defender regarded more highly at Chelsea. Napoli might argue against paying a premium given Badiashile's limited league appearances, never exceeding 22 games in any season since 2022-23.
