North London Transfer News: Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea Targets
North London’s transfer engines are already roaring, and the rest of Europe can hear the noise.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are all circling major targets, while Marcus Rashford’s future is being dragged back into the spotlight by a hard financial line from Barcelona and a firm stance at Manchester United.
Arsenal move early for Manu Kone
Arsenal have wasted little time sketching out their midfield rebuild. Personal terms are reportedly agreed with France midfielder Manu Kone, a significant step toward bringing him to the Emirates.
The 25-year-old is under contract at Roma, but the Italian club’s books are dictating their summer. Despite Champions League qualification, Roma must sell, and Gazzetta dello Sport report they have pinned a €50m (£43.2m) price tag on Kone.
Arsenal want more power and presence in the middle of the pitch. Kone fits that brief. Now it comes down to whether the Gunners are willing to meet Roma’s valuation, and how quickly the Serie A side push to cash in.
Tottenham ready to go big for Sandro Tonali
Across the North London divide, Tottenham are plotting something far more explosive.
Spurs are described as “increasingly confident” of landing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, despite a £100m price tag that would obliterate their current transfer record. This is not a cautious Tottenham; this is a club trying to plant a flag.
The Telegraph report that Roberto De Zerbi is desperate to bring in his compatriot as a statement signing. Tonali’s technical range and intensity would instantly reshape Spurs’ midfield, but prising him away from Newcastle at that price would send shockwaves through the league.
If Tottenham push this through, it becomes the defining move of their summer and a clear message about their ambition under De Zerbi.
Chelsea keep watching Diogo Costa
Stay in London, change the shade of blue. Chelsea are still keeping a close eye on Diogo Costa.
The Porto goalkeeper has been linked with a Premier League move for some time, and the feeling around him is of a player ready for a new stage after the World Cup cycle. Portugal’s Record claim Porto will demand around €60m (£51.8m) for their captain.
Chelsea have been reshaping their squad window after window, and the goalkeeping position has never felt completely settled. Costa, with his shot-stopping, distribution and leadership, ticks every modern box. For now, the club are “monitoring” – but monitoring at that level of detail rarely stays passive for long.
Rashford in limbo after Barcelona walk away
Marcus Rashford’s situation, meanwhile, is back in the grey zone.
Barcelona had the chance to sign him permanently after his loan spell last season, with a €30m option on the table. They walked away. The Spanish champions passed on the deal despite Rashford’s impressive stint, and that decision has thrown his future back into the market.
Manchester United have responded by setting a new asking price: £40m. That figure is open to all but two clubs. According to ESPN, neither Manchester City nor Liverpool are allowed to access that discount, a clear line drawn by United against strengthening their fiercest domestic rivals.
So Rashford waits. Arsenal chase Kone. Spurs push for Tonali. Chelsea watch Costa. The numbers are huge, the stakes even higher — and the window hasn’t truly caught fire yet.
