Ovie Ejaria Seeks New Club Via LinkedIn After Leaving Real Oviedo

Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria has taken an uncommon route to find a new club after parting ways with Real Oviedo. The 28-year-old, now a free agent, posted on LinkedIn highlighting his ability to play various midfield and attacking roles in hopes of attracting interest.

Free Agent Looking for Opportunity

Ejaria's latest move sees him use the professional networking site LinkedIn in his search for a team. After appearing just eight times last season as Oviedo faced relegation from La Liga, the English-born player is eager to get back into action. His past clubs include Liverpool, Sunderland, Rangers, and Reading.

Versatile Midfield Options Offered

In his open message, Ejaria emphasized his tactical flexibility. He wrote, "I'm currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity. If there's a club seeking a midfielder (6, 8 & 10) or someone who can also play left winger, please feel free to DM me." This broad skill set covers central midfield roles and the left flank.

Steven Gerrard’s Reflections on Ejaria

During a loan spell at Rangers in the 2018-19 season, Ejaria showed promise under manager Steven Gerrard before cutting his loan short in December 2018, which frustrated the club. Gerrard later told the Glasgow Times, "Am I disappointed he's gone? Yes. Do I think it’s the right decision? No, because I think he had an incredible opportunity here."

Gerrard praised Ejaria’s performance particularly during a Europa League play-off against FC Ufa in August 2018. After a first-leg 1-0 win at Ibrox, Ejaria scored early in the 1-1 draw in Russia to help Rangers advance to the group stage.

"I thought he was magnificent and I think that is his strongest 90 minutes that he has given us so far," Gerrard said on Rangers TV.

"We have seen flashes and good halves, but that was his first real excellent performance against a good team. He was excellent from start to finish."

Ready for a New Challenge

As the 2026-27 season begins across Europe, Ejaria is keen to secure a contract. Being a free agent allows him to sign with clubs even outside regular transfer windows. With experience in England, Scotland, and Spain, he hopes this will help him quickly return to professional football.
