PSG Near €55m Deal to Sign World Cup Star Ferran Torres from Barcelona
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona to acquire Spanish forward Ferran Torres in a deal valued at €55 million. The transfer is seen as a direct replacement for Goncalo Ramos, who left PSG for AC Milan earlier this summer.
Details of the Transfer Agreement
The French club initially offered €40 million, which Barcelona rejected. They then raised their bid to €50 million plus €5 million in add-ons, matching the amount Barcelona paid when signing Torres in 2021. The deal is said to be close to completion, with only final administrative steps remaining before Torres officially joins PSG.
- Initial offer: €40 million (rejected)
- Final offer: €50 million fixed + €5 million bonuses
- Total package: €55 million
Reunion with Luis Enrique Influences Move
A major factor behind the transfer is Torres reuniting with Luis Enrique, the PSG manager who coached him while leading the Spanish national team. Enrique personally contacted Torres to explain his tactical vision and promised him significant playing time through squad rotation. Their previous relationship and mutual respect appear to have played a key role in convincing Torres to move to Paris.
Interestingly, Torres also shares a personal connection with Enrique, having previously dated the coach's daughter. Enrique’s trust in Torres during times of public criticism helped strengthen the bond between player and manager.
Torres' Time at Barcelona
During the 2025-26 season, Torres scored 16 goals in 33 La Liga appearances for Barcelona. He gained further acclaim by scoring in Spain's 2026 World Cup final victory, cementing his reputation as a top international performer.
Despite his strong form, Torres declined contract extension offers from Barcelona, feeling undervalued by the club’s management. His departure leaves Barcelona searching for attacking options, although he remained well-liked among his teammates throughout his tenure.
Next Steps Before Official Announcement
Torres is expected to visit Barcelona's training ground soon to say his farewells before heading to France. Once in Paris, he will undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract with PSG. This signing gives Luis Enrique another potent attacker to deploy.
