PSG Pursues Ajax Starlet Mika Godts Amid Barcola Exit

Paris Saint-Germain have started formal talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts, with the French champions accelerating plans to reshape their attack this summer.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations are under way between the clubs, while the player himself has already given the green light. The 21-year-old Belgian is understood to have agreed to join PSG after what were described as “direct positive talks” with the club’s transfer chief Luis Campos.

Ajax, though, are digging in. The Dutch side are determined to keep one of their standout young talents and are expected to drive a hard bargain.

PSG rebuild gathers pace

PSG’s pursuit of Godts comes as part of a broader attacking overhaul. They are close to completing the signing of Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, having seen off competition from Liverpool for the French midfielder’s signature.

The next move is clear. With Bradley Barcola edging towards the exit, PSG are lining up Godts as a like-for-like replacement on the left.

Barcola has told the club he will not extend his current deal, which runs until 2028, and is widely expected to leave in this window. Liverpool are currently leading the chase for the France international and are poised to lodge an opening offer in the coming days.

Once Barcola goes, Luis Enrique’s options out wide thin out quickly. That reality has pushed Godts to the top of PSG’s list.

Hazard comparisons and a breakout season

Godts operates primarily from the left flank, cutting inside onto his stronger right foot, but he can also slot in as an attacking midfielder. His game is built on pace, sharp close control and an eye for the final ball, with a calmness in front of goal that has already sparked comparisons with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

Last season, he delivered the numbers to match the hype. Across all competitions for Ajax, Godts scored 17 goals and supplied 15 assists in 44 appearances, a return that underlined both his productivity and his importance in the final third.

His impact did not go unnoticed. He was voted the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year, finishing ahead of other highly rated prospects, including AZ midfielder Kees Smit, who himself has been linked with several major European clubs.

A tug of war in the making

For PSG, Godts ticks almost every box: young, versatile, proven at senior level and available at a moment when a key attacking piece is preparing to walk away. For Ajax, he is exactly the sort of player they are desperate to keep as they try to build a new core.
