PSG Pursues Mika Godts: Fast-Tracking Summer Transfers

Paris Saint-Germain have no intention of easing into this summer. They are tearing into it.

Barely finished celebrating the 50-million-euro arrival of Norwegian forward Magnus Akliouche, the French champions have moved straight onto their next target, opening official talks with Ajax for highly rated winger Mika Godts.

PSG move fast for Godts

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG’s hierarchy have contacted Ajax and begun negotiations for the 21-year-old Belgian, who is coming off a statement season in the Netherlands: 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 matches across all competitions. Those are not the numbers of a prospect. They are the numbers of a player ready to jump.

Paris clearly think so. And they have not wasted time testing that theory.

Campos goes straight to the source

The turning point in this chase may already have come. Rather than dealing only club to club, PSG’s sporting advisor Luis Campos went directly to the player, holding talks with Godts that were described as “very fruitful”.

The conversation mattered. Godts, impressed by the project laid out in front of him, made clear his desire to join the French champions. That stance hands PSG a powerful advantage at the negotiating table.

Ajax suddenly find themselves arguing against the tide of the player’s will. They had hoped to keep him, to build around another young attacking gem. Now they know he wants Paris. Everyone does.

Ajax under pressure, PSG sense an opening

For Ajax, the situation is awkward. They are not dealing with a fringe squad member but with one of the revelations of their season. Letting him go weakens them, yet holding him against his wishes risks a different kind of damage.

PSG, sensing that shift, are pushing to close a deal quickly. With Godts already on board with the move, the final stretch comes down to numbers and structure, not persuasion.

Time matters. So does context.

Barcola doubts and the wide-man puzzle

The French champions are not just stockpiling talent for the sake of it. Questions hang over the future of Bradley Barcola, who has attracted serious interest from several Premier League giants. If a major offer lands, PSG will have a decision to make.

That is where Godts becomes more than a luxury signing. He looks like strategic insurance: a young, explosive winger who can grow into a central role in the attack, whether or not Barcola stays.

If the talks land where Paris want them, they will have secured a high-upside reinforcement in a position that could soon be under reconstruction.

After Diomande, a different path

Godts is not the first wide player PSG have chased in this window. Yan Diomande, the Ivorian winger heavily linked with Paris in recent days, is now expected to join Real Madrid instead. That battle, it seems, has been lost.

So PSG have turned their attention elsewhere, and quickly. Missing out on Diomande has not slowed their ambition to refresh the flanks. It has simply redirected it.

For Real Madrid, Diomande would answer an urgent need for width as the European champions look to assemble a squad capable of contesting every trophy again. For PSG, Godts could serve a similar purpose: a new piece in a frontline being reshaped on the fly.

One club has already secured its winger of the future. The other is closing in on theirs. The question now is whether Ajax will resist, or accept that this particular tide is already pulling Godts towards Paris.
