Real Madrid Pursue Michael Olise for Historic Transfer

Real Madrid are weighing up a move for Michael Olise that would shake the entire transfer market and brush up against one of football’s most untouchable records.

Speaking to Marca, Ivan Zamorano did not bother with nuance when asked which player he would bring in to elevate Perez’s current project. The Chilean, a cult hero in Madrid between 1992 and 1996, went straight to the point when Olise’s name came up.

“I’d buy Olise tomorrow! And I’d play with Olise, [Kylian] Mbappe, Vinicius, and I’d bring in Enzo Fernandez and put him in midfield. We already have a right-back, a center-back... so with that we’d have a great team,” Zamorano said.

It is a fantasy line-up drawn from a man who knows exactly what it takes to score goals at the Bernabeu: three elite forwards rotating and interchanging, fed by a World Cup-winning midfielder. For supporters, it reads like a dream. For the board, it sounds like a challenge.

Glitz up front, questions everywhere else

Zamorano, though, did not allow himself to be carried away by the fireworks. His excitement about Olise and the prospect of a front three with Mbappe and Vinicius came with a warning born of recent experience.

He has watched Madrid labour through the 2025-26 campaign, a season marked by imbalance and vulnerability despite the presence of two of the best attackers on the planet.

“We have two world-class strikers, and there's no doubt the team must be built around that. Last year there was an imbalance between the attackers, the midfield, and the defense,” he explained.

The message was clear: signing another star forward cannot be the only answer.

“While that's true, we have to take advantage of having two world-class strikers and the possibility of adding another. We also need to find a balance by bringing in central defenders, all-around midfielders, and not relying so heavily on two monsters like Vinicius and Mbappe. We also need to try to create a very compact team from the forwards back,” Zamorano added.

For a club synonymous with glamour, it is a reminder that titles are won as much by structure as by stardust. Olise might become the next jewel in the crown, but the spine still needs reinforcing.

Olise’s focus fixed on France and Morocco

While Madrid’s hierarchy and former icons debate his future and the market calculates his price, Olise has a more immediate concern: the 2026 World Cup.

The Bayern forward is locked into France’s campaign, with Didier Deschamps’ side grinding their way into the quarter-finals. Off the pitch, though, the French Football Federation is fighting a different kind of battle on his behalf.

The FFF has appealed to FIFA to overturn a yellow card shown to Olise in the 1-0 win over Paraguay in the round of 16, a tense and ill-tempered tie settled by a Kylian Mbappe penalty.
