Ruben Amorim Considers Surprise Move for Manchester United’s Leny Yoro at AC Milan

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly interested in signing Leny Yoro, a defender currently at Manchester United, before the summer transfer window shuts.

Amorim Eyes Defensive Boost

According to Tuttosport, Amorim, who recently took charge at AC Milan, is keen on bringing Yoro back under his guidance. The Portuguese manager met with club directors Hendrik Almstadt and Bobby Gardiner for five hours on Saturday to finalize transfer plans ahead of the deadline.

The 20-year-old French defender has faced challenges since joining Manchester United from Lille in a £52 million deal two years ago. A major ankle injury in his first season hindered his progress, and he has struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup under Michael Carrick.

Yoro’s Struggles and Limited Opportunities

Yoro’s role at Manchester United has become uncertain. He was an unused substitute during the opening day loss to Hull City and only made a late substitute appearance against Ipswich Town, replacing Diogo Dalot in the 73rd minute. Despite limited starts this season, Yoro has accumulated 67 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring once and providing three assists.

A move to Serie A might offer Yoro a fresh start with a coach who values his abilities.

Champions League Ambitions

Before this season, Yoro shared his pride in playing for Manchester United in Europe’s top competition. He told the club’s official site that participating in the Champions League was a big step up after playing in the Conference and Europa Leagues. “It’s a competition with the best players in the world,” he said.

He also mentioned how his teammates described the unique atmosphere of the Champions League, training with the special ball and hearing the iconic music, which adds to the excitement of facing clubs from across the globe.

This summer, AC Milan have been active in the market, spending over £128 million already. They are targeting reinforcements in three key areas: attacking midfielder, left-back—linked with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde—and central defender.
