Tottenham Secures Omar Marmoush on Loan from Manchester City with £60m Purchase Clause

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to bring Omar Marmoush, the forward from Manchester City, on loan. The deal includes a mandatory purchase clause set at £60 million, which will be activated next summer.

The 27-year-old Egyptian international is the latest to move from City to Spurs, following in the footsteps of Savio, who joined Tottenham for an initial £75 million earlier this week.

Marmoush transferred to Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt last January for £59 million but often found himself behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order. He featured as a substitute during City's 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal and was on the bench without playing in their 2-1 Premier League victory against Bournemouth.

Spurs' Busy Transfer Window

So far this summer, Tottenham's spending has exceeded £312 million. Their new signings include Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton. They have also added defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, along with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, all arriving on free transfers.

What Omar Marmoush Brings to Tottenham

According to BBC Sport journalist Mohamed Moallim, Marmoush scored 16 goals across 62 games for City since his arrival from Frankfurt. In the 2025-26 season alone, he netted eight times in 36 appearances, though his Premier League minutes were limited. He started only eight league matches, totaling around 700 minutes on the pitch, and contributed three goals plus three assists. His expected goals statistic (3.53) closely matched his actual output, indicating his finishing was not the main issue.

Marmoush struggled for playing time given City's reliance on Haaland and additional attacking reinforcements. At Tottenham, the forward could provide cover for Dominic Solanke, who has faced injuries over the past 18 months, and Richarlison, whose contract expires soon.

Primarily a number nine, Marmoush is versatile across the front line. At Frankfurt, he mainly played centrally but also took roles as a second striker and from the left wing. Manchester City used him similarly—mostly as a central attacker but also on the flank or just behind another striker. This adaptability fits well with Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi’s tactics, which emphasize fluid forward movement, positional interchanges, and exploiting space created by drawing defenders out. Marmoush is comfortable performing these roles.
