Zinedine Zidane Plans Tactical Shifts as France Prepares for Vital Belgium Clash

Zinedine Zidane, the manager of France, announced that he will implement strategic changes to the starting eleven for their important UEFA Nations League game against Belgium. The French team looks to stay at the top of Group A1 despite missing several key players.

France Aims to Maintain Group Lead

Following a tough 1-1 draw with Italy at the Stade de France, Les Bleus remain in a strong position after earlier wins over Turkey and Belgium. With Belgium currently second in the group, sitting on six points after recovering from a 1-0 loss to France with a 3-0 win over Turkey, this upcoming match is crucial for France to secure their place at the summit.

Squad Changes Forced by Absences

Zidane faces challenges as captain Kylian Mbappe is sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during the Turkey game. Defender Dayot Upamecano is also unavailable because of suspension following a red card against Italy. Despite these setbacks, Zidane trusts the squad's depth and plans to rotate players carefully to keep the team competitive.

"There will be changes, that’s for sure. It is our fourth match, and we can’t just do anything," Zidane said, according to L’Equipe. "We will make smart changes, and above all, we will do it to be competitive."

Fostering Competition and Unity

For Zidane, rotating the lineup isn't only about rest but also about encouraging commitment across the entire team. He wants every player to feel involved and aware of the competition within the squad.

"It is to show that we are all involved and that all the players are committed to this team, to demonstrate that there is a lot of competition within the French national team," Zidane explained. "The demands are the same, but the difference is that the work with the national team differs from that at club level. I enjoyed the daily work, and today I take on a different role, but my desire to work in harmony with my team has not changed."

He added that spending 15 days with the players was fantastic and expressed some frustration about the camp ending soon, but emphasized that the team still has one last effort to make before leaving.

Targeting Victory to Secure Knockout Stage

Currently leading Group A1 with seven points, France aims to grab three points against Belgium, which would greatly increase their chances of advancing to the knockout rounds. This match is the final fixture of the current international break, with the squad set to return to action in November.
