That injury ruled him out of the 2026 World Cup and wiped out his pre-season with Arsenal. Given that context, the club are taking the slow road. No rush, no gamble. With the schedule about to tighten, they want Timber fully ready, not patched up.

White joins growing injury list

If Timber’s situation is about caution, Ben White’s is about concern.

The defender misses the Ipswich tie after picking up a muscular problem during the first half of the 2-0 win over Sunderland. He went off, and the diagnosis has not yet been fully confirmed, but the early indication is another groin issue.

Arsenal will wait for clarity on the extent of the damage. Until then, Arteta must plan without one of his most reliable performers, just as the fixtures begin to stack up.

The absences do not stop there. William Saliba remains sidelined, depriving Arsenal of their defensive linchpin, while Cristhian Mosquera is also out. The club expect Mosquera to be closer to a return after the upcoming international break, a small glimmer in an otherwise crowded treatment room.
