Giacomo Raspadori Withdraws from Italy's Nations League Squad Ahead of France Clash

Giacomo Raspadori, the versatile forward from Atalanta, will miss Italy's upcoming Nations League fixtures against France and Turkiye. After medical checks confirmed he was unfit to play, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced his withdrawal from the national team camp.

Medical Tests Confirm Early Departure

The decision followed evaluations by the Azzurri’s medical staff, revealing Raspadori’s inability to participate in the demanding international matches ahead. His injury forced him off at halftime during Italy's 4-1 victory over Turkiye, adding to the squad’s fitness challenges after Nicolo Zaniolo left the camp before that game.

Official Statement from FIGC

The federation made clear: "Giacomo Raspadori was given full rest and underwent medical tests. Once it was confirmed he would be unavailable for the upcoming games, he returned to his club." This means he will not feature in the crucial trip to face France at Stade de France on Friday, nor in the home fixture against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5.

Squad Adjustments Ahead of France Match

Despite this setback, the Italian squad remains focused following their commanding win in Bursa. After returning to Coverciano, head coach Roberto Mancini split training sessions to manage player workloads. Those who played heavily in the last match concentrated on recovery, while others engaged in tactical drills including attack-versus-defense exercises at Fiorentina’s Viola Park facilities.

Pressure on Italy’s Attack

The absence of Raspadori, known for his sharp movement and technical skill, raises questions about Italy’s offensive options. Though the recent four-goal performance against Turkiye offered some relief, the loss of this key forward is a blow. Mancini faces the choice of calling up a replacement or relying on the current squad depth to maintain attacking strength.
