Arsenal Women Announce New Squad Numbers for 2026/27 Season
Arsenal Women have quietly made a statement before a ball has even been kicked in 2026/27 – and they’ve done it with the numbers on their backs.
In a sport where shirt numbers still carry weight, four key members of the squad are stepping into new identities for the coming campaign: Daphne van Domselaar to 1, Caitlin Foord to 9, Olivia Smith to 11 and Michelle Agyemang to 17.
It’s more than a cosmetic shuffle. It reads like a declaration of status.
Key Number Changes
Van Domselaar taking the No 1 shirt underlines her role at the heart of Arsenal’s plans. The goalkeeper’s switch feels like the natural mark of a player trusted to anchor a season that will demand calm hands and a commanding presence.
Up front, the No 9 shirt now belongs to Caitlin Foord. The number is steeped in history at this club, tied to finishers and focal points. Handing it to Foord signals expectation: goals, leadership, responsibility in the biggest moments.
On the flank, or wherever creativity is needed most, Olivia Smith will wear 11. It’s a winger’s number, an attacker’s number, a licence-to-drift-and-damage number. For a player with flair and directness, it fits.
Then there is Michelle Agyemang, moving to 17 – a number that has often belonged to rising forces and versatile forwards. For a young talent pushing for more minutes and a bigger role, it feels like the next step in her climb.
The club has also moved quickly to look after supporters who got in early for the new season. Fans who have already bought 2026/27 jerseys with the old squad numbers through Arsenal Direct can request a free refund. Those who picked up their shirts in person at the Armoury or Highbury stores aren’t left out either: they can bring their jersey back in and swap it, free of charge, for one bearing the new number, as long as they can show proof of purchase.
Numbers change every summer. What matters is what they come to represent by May.
