Bayern Munich's Friendly Win Clouds by Injury Concerns
Bayern Munich’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig in Munich on Saturday ended with more concern than celebration, as Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer and Minjae Kim all failed to finish the match.
The most alarming moment came just minutes after Musiala had found the net to make it 3-1 in sweltering conditions. With no opponent near him, the Germany international suddenly crumpled, his legs giving way as he began to fall to the turf.
Ismael Saibari reacted instantly. The midfielder sprinted across and managed to catch Musiala before he hit the ground, while Joshua Kimmich also rushed to his team-mate’s side, urgently calling for help.
Bayern’s medical staff charged onto the pitch and a stretcher followed, heightening the tension inside the stadium. Players and fans watched in near silence as Musiala received several minutes of treatment on the grass.
The pressure eased only when he finally rose to his feet. Supported by the team doctor, Musiala was able to walk slowly from the field rather than be carried off, a small but significant relief on a worrying afternoon.
After the match, board member for sport Max Eberl offered the first indication of the club’s internal mood on the incident, even as they awaited a full medical report. His message was brief but reassuring: “The most important thing is that he’s doing well.”
The Musiala drama capped a game that had already delivered bad news for Vincent Kompany.
Earlier in the contest, Konrad Laimer went down following a challenge, immediately clutching his right thigh. He received on-field treatment but could not continue and was substituted, walking off with visible discomfort. Bayern are still awaiting a precise diagnosis.
Minjae Kim also did not finish the match, adding a third layer of concern to what should have been a straightforward pre-season win.
The result will quickly fade into the background. All eyes now turn to the treatment room, and to how quickly three key pieces of Kompany’s Bayern puzzle can return before the real games begin.
