Cavan Sullivan Earns First USMNT Call-Up as Union Surge Continues

The 16-year-old Philadelphia Union midfielder will be among the 26 players called in by Mauricio Pochettino for a four-game friendly slate between Sept. 26 and Oct. 6, a remarkable step for a teenager who only recently became a regular at club level.

Sullivan has driven a resurgent Union side straight back into the playoff picture, dragging them out of their midseason slump and into one of the league’s most dangerous late-season runs. Since the World Cup break, Philadelphia haven’t lost a league match. A long-time standout in the U.S. Youth National Team pathway, Sullivan first pulled on a U.S. shirt at U-15 level and has been a staple of the age-group squads ever since.
