Eiran Cashin Ruled Out for Two Months – Derby's Major Setback

Derby County have suffered a major setback with defender Eiran Cashin ruled out for around eight weeks with a calf injury.

The centre-back only returned to Pride Park at the start of the month, rejoining on loan from Brighton for the rest of the season. A product of the club’s academy, Cashin had already clocked up 144 appearances in his first spell with the Rams and was expected to be a key figure again in the run-in.

He went straight back into the side, starting in the defeats to West Brom and Birmingham and playing close to the full 90 minutes in both games. Then came the first warning sign: his name missing from the matchday squad against Burnley.

The reason became clear soon after.

“Cash is out now for about eight weeks, he’s done his calf,” manager John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby.

For a defence built around his aggression and reading of the game, losing Cashin for two months rips out a big piece of Derby’s structure. The question now is simple and urgent: who steps up to fill the gap while one of their own watches on from the treatment room?
