Glasner leans on form and familiarity

Either side of that, the numbers are stark. A 0-5 hammering by Brighton, a narrow 0-1 loss to Manchester City, another 0-1 defeat to Hull City and a 1-3 reverse at Aston Villa in midweek cup action. Three goals scored, fourteen conceded. That is relegation form in any language.

History leans Forest’s way, but not entirely

The recent head-to-head record offers a little hope to both camps.

Their last meeting came in a pre-season friendly in July 2022, when Coventry ran out 3-1 winners. That result sits slightly apart from the more meaningful Championship clashes that came before it.

In league play, Forest have largely had the better of it. They won 2-0 at the City Ground in April 2022, took a 2-1 victory away in February 2021 and edged another 2-1 home win in November 2020. Coventry’s league joy in that spell came with a 2-1 home success in August 2021.

Across those five most recent encounters – four competitive, one friendly – Forest hold three wins to Coventry’s two. Not dominance, but an edge.
