Fridolina Rolfö to Miss 2026/27 Season After Pregnancy Announcement

Manchester United will be without one of their most influential forwards for the entire 2026/27 campaign, with Fridolina Rolfö confirming she is pregnant.

The Sweden international was a notable absentee from United’s WSL opening-day defeat away to London City Lionesses last Friday. The reason became clear soon after, as Rolfö shared the news of her pregnancy with her teammates.

For manager Eva Olid, it is a significant blow. Rolfö’s versatility across the front line and her experience on the biggest stages have been central to United’s attacking identity. Now Olid must plan for a season – and likely the early part of 2027/28 – without her, with the forward expected to need time to regain full fitness after giving birth.

United have already been here recently. Last season, winger Celin Bizet Dønnum announced her own pregnancy, playing her final game in October 2025. She has yet to return to first-team action, a reminder of how long the road back can be at elite level.

One star is stepping away for the biggest chapter of her life. The question for United is who steps up to fill the void in the months ahead.
