Inter’s iron grip on Cagliari shows no sign of loosening.

The champions arrive in Sardinia on Sunday night riding a 13-game unbeaten run against the Rossoblù in Serie A, and Cagliari have not kept a clean sheet in this fixture for 20 straight meetings. History leans heavily one way. So do the numbers.

Fast starters, ruthless finishers

Esposito’s moment

Francesco Pio Esposito is not just making up the numbers anymore. He is forcing the issue.

Chivu trusted him from the start alongside Lautaro Martínez at San Siro, leaving Thuram and Ange-Yoan Bonny on the bench. That selection was no token gesture. Esposito is now competing seriously for a permanent place in the XI.

Cagliari’s resistance and reality check

Cagliari do not come into this as victims-in-waiting. Pisacane’s side opened their campaign with a deserved 1-0 win at Parma, Alessandro Romano – a summer signing from Roma – deciding it with a crisp left-footed drive from 25 metres.
