"So I am just looking forward to it, it has been good to settle in with the team the last month or so, even though it has been frustrating not playing the games. But hopefully now I can get involved."

Because the issue was in his arm rather than his legs, Henderson has been able to train at a strong intensity in recent weeks. Physically, he should not be miles off. Match sharpness, though, is another test entirely – and Brentford are not in the habit of offering gentle reintroductions to elite football.

A tall order in a weakened side
