Juventus face an anxious wait over the fitness of captain Manuel Locatelli after the midfielder reported a knee problem in the closing stages of Sunday night’s 1-1 draw with Milan in Serie A.

Locatelli felt discomfort late on at the Allianz Stadium but stayed on the pitch and completed the full 90 minutes. The issue only emerged after the game, with multiple reports, including from Gianluca Di Marzio, confirming the concern.

The 26-year-old is now due at JMedical, where he will undergo tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of the problem. Juventus are yet to disclose any diagnosis or timeline, but the club’s medical staff are expected to have a clearer picture following Monday’s examinations.

Impact on Juventus

The timing could hardly be worse for Juve’s midfield.

Khephren Thuram has already undergone knee surgery and is not expected back until early 2027, leaving a significant gap in the centre of the pitch. Losing Locatelli for any stretch would strip the team of its captain, organiser and primary reference in possession.

An absence would also reshape the options available to Luciano Spalletti. Without Locatelli, the Italy coach would be forced to lean heavily on Weston McKennie, Douglas Luiz, Teun Koopmeiners and summer arrival Pape Matar Sarr to anchor central midfield.
