Kaizer Chiefs Seek Statement Win Against Richards Bay

Ronnie Gabriel walks into this one with only two points from nine, yet he refuses to flinch. The newly promoted head coach has seen enough in the performances to believe the tide will turn.

“For us, I feel the offensive structure has been good, the defensive structure has been good,” he said earlier in the week. “We have been pressing the right lines. We are on the right track in terms of individual performances or individual efforts, we are happy with it.”

The table says struggle. Gabriel insists it says progress.

Richards Bay: performances without payoff

With that blend of industry and invention, Chiefs have enough to dominate. The question is whether they can impose themselves early, or let the game drift into the kind of scrap that suits a side fighting for survival.
