Liverpool Forward Cleared to Start Against Atletico Madrid
Liverpool’s France forward has been passed fit to start their Premier League clash at Anfield, shaking off the cramp that forced him off in the second half of Wednesday’s win over Atletico Madrid.
The scare in midweek briefly threatened to derail his momentum, but medical checks brought good news. He leads the line again as Liverpool turn from European intensity to domestic demands in front of their own crowd.
The supporting cast around him, though, has been reshuffled.
- Ryan Gravenberch
- Kostas Tsimikas
- Victor Munoz
are all drafted into the starting XI, with Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister and Rio Ngumoha making way. It’s a clear signal of rotation after a high-tempo European night, but not a softening of intent. Gravenberch offers legs and drive in midfield, Tsimikas brings his left-footed delivery, and Munoz slots in to freshen up the side.
There is another boost on the teamsheet.
Cody Gakpo returns to the matchday squad after a fitness issue and is named among the substitutes, giving Liverpool an extra attacking option if the game tightens or turns frantic in the second half.
Liverpool’s starting XI at Anfield reads:
Alisson; Van Dijk, Jacquet, Wirtz; Szoboszlai, Isak, Tsimikas, Munoz, Barcola, Araujo, Gravenberch.
With their France forward ready to go again and Gakpo back in reserve, Liverpool arrive at Anfield with firepower restored and a bench that can change the rhythm of the night in an instant.
