According to L’Equipe, Monaco will end Pogba's deal after he injured his left thigh on Tuesday. During a small-sided training game at St George’s Park, Pogba collapsed in severe pain.

This injury solidified a decision the club had already made weeks earlier. Monaco had informed Pogba that they intended to terminate his two-year contract and allowed him to seek opportunities elsewhere. Negotiations over financial terms for his exit are ongoing, with Pogba reportedly earning under £44,000 per week.

A Troubled Return to Football

Pogba only came back to professional football in March 2025 after his doping ban was shortened on appeal. He joined Monaco hoping to restart his career following a mutual contract termination at Juventus.

His return to Ligue 1 has been marred by ongoing physical problems. Monaco considered pre-season vital to evaluate his condition, but Pogba played just 45 minutes in a 5-2 friendly win against Saint-Priest on July 18. He then missed four matches due to a right knee issue before suffering the latest thigh injury. Pogba had just returned to full team training last Friday, aiming to continue his comeback.

Club Officials Speak Out

Monaco management handled the situation carefully out of respect for Pogba, though their disappointment is clear. General manager Thiago Scuro addressed the matter in a recent press conference, acknowledging the project had failed. He said:

"The truth is that the project (with Pogba) did not work well last season. When we started it, the expectations we had were very different. Is he likely to leave? Yes, of course."

Pogba himself once spoke about the opportunity at Monaco as a relief, telling Daily Mail Sport:

"We went through hell. A time of darkness. But this is my second chance, I have to use it."

An MRI scan scheduled for Tuesday afternoon will reveal more about the severity of Pogba’s thigh injury. Once his departure from Monaco is official, he faces a critical decision.
