Napoli Faces Injury Crisis After Arsenal Defeat

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there is optimism inside Napoli that the growing injury list could ease by the end of the September-October international break, but for now that remains a target rather than a guarantee.

For Allegri, it is a brutal twist. Meret anchors the back line and sets the tempo with the ball at his feet; Alisson offers thrust and unpredictability in the final third. Losing both in the same match, in the opening round of the Champions League, turns a narrow defeat into a potentially destabilising moment.

Anguissa back in the frame

There was at least one shaft of light in the medical update. Napoli confirmed that Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has returned to training and is in contention to feature at the weekend.

His comeback could not be better timed. With the side short on rhythm and missing leaders across the pitch, Anguissa’s presence in midfield offers structure, physicality and experience. He gives Allegri a reliable fulcrum as he juggles line-ups and minutes in the weeks ahead.
