Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu Withdraws from Denmark Squad Due to Injury, Coach Brian Riemer Confirms

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has been forced to leave the Denmark national team due to injury, according to head coach Brian Riemer. This setback adds to an already difficult selection situation for the Danish side amid a wave of injuries.

Denmark Faces Growing Injury Crisis

The Danish squad is struggling through a challenging international window as injuries pile up. Dorgu had to exit the team on Sunday after suffering an injury during Denmark’s 2-0 win over Wales in the UEFA Nations League. His withdrawal further stretches the team's resources alongside other absentees like Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg, all sidelined since the original squad announcement.

“We’re sending him home now, he’s out and won’t be ready for next week. Further examinations must show how long he will be out,” Riemer told Bold.

Dorgu Injury Hits Denmark’s Wing Options Hard

Dorgu plays a crucial role on Denmark’s left flank, known for his versatility across the wide areas. His absence leaves a noticeable gap that Riemer must address. The coach also pointed out the physical toll on the remaining players who are being heavily relied upon as the squad’s depth thins.

“I have never experienced anything like it. I would like to be allowed to say that. Now another one went today. I counted seven or eight players before today who would usually be in a 23-man squad but are not here. They’ve either gone home or never arrived. And now Dorgu went out today. It’s really annoying, to be honest,” said Riemer to TV2.

Looking for Reinforcements

With the squad stretched thin, Riemer is considering calling up replacements to cover the wing positions. Several players are under evaluation, including seasoned internationals and in-form talents playing abroad. The coach seeks individuals who can quickly adapt and cope with the demands of international football.

“It could be Anders Dreyer, it could be Andreas Skov Olsen, who has started well in Turkey, but it could also be one of the young players,” Riemer explained to Bold.

Hojlund Shares Concerns

Forward Rasmus Hojlund expressed sympathy for Dorgu following the injury news. He emphasized Dorgu’s value to the team and reflected on how losing such a key player long term would be tough for Denmark to handle.

“I think it’s a shame. We have a huge profile, and he is also a big name at my former club. If he’s out for a long time, it’s obviously a bummer,” Hojlund told TV2.
