Rafael Leao Responds to Milan Coach Amorim's Claims

Rafael Leao has publicly dismissed a report claiming new Milan coach Ruben Amorim considers him a “negative influence” in the dressing room, bluntly replying on social media: “You are lying.”

The Portugal international rarely posts on X, which made his intervention all the more striking. He stepped in after seeing a post that repeated claims originally carried by La Gazzetta dello Sport, alleging Amorim harboured doubts about Leao’s impact on the squad’s atmosphere.

The report suggested the coach viewed the winger as a destabilising presence inside the Milan camp. Leao didn’t let it slide. He hit back with: “Maybe because you are lying”, tagging the account and adding three laughing-face emojis to underline his contempt for the story.

Leao is absent from today’s friendly against Manchester United, but the club’s stance is clear: a minor injury is keeping him out, not a disciplinary issue or a clash with the new coach.

Away from the noise online, his future remains unresolved. Milan and Leao’s camp have spent much of the summer exploring a sale, yet the market has not responded in the way the club initially hoped. Offers have arrived from Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but all of them have fallen well short of Milan’s demands.

The Rossoneri started the window by setting a price of 50 million euros plus 10 million in add-ons. No bid has come close. That stance is now softening. Milan are prepared to lower their expectations and could be willing to let him leave for around 40 million euros.

The question now is simple: will anyone step up to test that new valuation before the window closes?
