Ravens Struggle as Gaels Score Three in Kingston

Kingston, ON – For 45 minutes, Carleton had Queen’s exactly where they wanted them. Then the second half started.

The Ravens opened on the front foot, snapping into tackles and carving out early looks. Xavier-Etienne Patry tested the Gaels first, with Damiano Totten and Marek Achadinha also finding pockets of space and half-chances as Carleton pushed the tempo.

Queen’s barely laid a glove on them in that opening period. Carleton controlled the rhythm, kept the ball moving, and locked the Gaels out of any meaningful attacking moments. By halftime, the Ravens had not allowed a single shot attempt. It felt like a platform for something more.

Instead, the match flipped in an instant.

Second Half

Early in the second half, Luke Harrop was whistled for a foul inside the box. Up stepped Damola Akanni, and he buried the penalty, handing Queen’s a 1-0 lead against the run of play and jolting the home side to life.

The damage didn’t stop there. With Carleton still reeling from the spot kick, Queen’s struck twice in rapid succession. Isaac Molouba found the net, and less than a minute later Sebastian Aguade added a third. Three goals, in a blur, and suddenly the Ravens were staring at a 3-0 deficit that hadn’t seemed remotely possible at the break.

Carleton tried to claw something back in the closing stages. Achadinha rose for a header that carried their hopes with it, but it failed to find the target. Adrijan Vrankovic then had a chance of his own, yet the breakthrough never came.

The night ended with a clean sheet for the Gaels and a harsh lesson for the Ravens: dominate one half, get punished in the next.

There won’t be much time to dwell on it. Carleton heads back on the road Sunday for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff at Ontario Tech, looking for an immediate response to a game that slipped away in a matter of minutes.
