Real Madrid Targets Michael Olise for Record Transfer

Florentino Pérez has never been one to tiptoe through a transfer window. Fresh from securing another term as Real Madrid president, he is reportedly plotting a celebration in the only language he truly trusts: a Galáctico signing.

Madrid circle Olise – and a world record

The name at the top of the wishlist is Michael Olise. Bayern Munich insist the Frenchman is not for sale, but Madrid are preparing to ask the question in a way that is hard to ignore.

Spanish journalist Látigo Serrano reports that Real are readying an opening bid of €180m (£155m) for the winger. That alone would be seismic. Yet the more telling detail is the line that follows: the European champions are prepared to go beyond the current €222m world transfer record if that is what it takes.

It would be a classic Pérez move. A statement of power, a dressing-room jolt, and a reminder that when Madrid decide a player fits the white shirt, resistance tends not to last long.

Gyökeres going nowhere – but Martinelli could

One striker who will not be part of Madrid’s summer is Viktor Gyökeres. The Sweden international, who hit 21 goals in his debut season for Arsenal, has been floated in reports as a possible makeweight in a complex chain of deals involving Atletico Madrid and a potential move for Julian Alvarez.

That scenario has been firmly dampened. Caught Offside report that talk of Gyökeres being pushed towards Atletico as a “sweetener” is wide of the mark, shutting down one of the more eye-catching rumours of the week.

The focus at Arsenal may instead fall on Gabriel Martinelli. According to The Times, the Brazilian is weighing up his future as the club continue to prioritise signing a new left winger. It is a delicate moment: Martinelli has just 12 months remaining on his current deal, and the search for a fresh option on his flank inevitably raises questions about his place in Mikel Arteta’s long-term plan.

If Arsenal do move aggressively for a new wide forward, the Emirates could yet see one of its most energetic attackers heading for the exit.

Manchester United’s goalkeeping reset

Up the road, Manchester United are preparing for a very different kind of overhaul. The club are planning a clear-out in goal, with Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek all facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford this summer.

Onana arrived as a marquee signing to replace David de Gea, but United’s recruitment department is now ready to reassess the entire goalkeeping department. Interest is already forming lower down the pyramid: newly promoted Hull, Coventry and Ipswich are all chasing Vitek as they look to strengthen for life in a higher division.

United’s rebuild under the new regime looks set to be ruthless. The goalkeeper group may be one of the first areas to feel the full force of that shift.

Villa target Bowen after West Ham’s fall

Aston Villa, fresh from securing Champions League football, are looking up – and looking wide. Jarrod Bowen has emerged as a prime target as Unai Emery seeks to add proven Premier League end product to a squad about to test itself against Europe’s elite.

Bowen, West Ham’s captain, now finds himself staring at the prospect of Championship football after relegation. Villa offer the opposite: the anthem, the group stages, the chance to carry his direct, relentless style onto a European stage.

Sky Sports report that Villa are weighing up a formal offer, while West Ham are holding firm at a £50m valuation. For a player who has carried the Irons so often in recent seasons, it would be a wrench to leave – but the pull of Champions League nights is rarely ignored for long.

A president chasing another Galáctico, a winger pondering his place at a title-chasing club, a giant reshaping its last line of defence, and a captain torn between loyalty and the lure of Europe. The window has barely opened, but the decisions already looming over Madrid, Arsenal, United and Villa hint at a summer that could redraw the map at both ends of the table.
