Spinazzola Injury Adds to Napoli's Concerns Before Fiorentina Match
Napoli’s preparations for Sunday’s lunchtime trip to Fiorentina have taken another hit, with Leonardo Spinazzola ruled out through injury.
The club confirmed on Friday that the full-back did not train with the rest of the squad after suffering a mild strain in the hamstring of his right thigh. Tests and workload management have led Napoli to sideline the Italy international for the match in Florence, scheduled for 12:30 CET (11:30 BST).
It’s another unwelcome addition to an already crowded treatment room. Reports from Il Mattino and Sky are aligned: Spinazzola will not be available at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, depriving Napoli of an experienced option on the left in a game that could shape their push to stabilise the season.
The concerns do not end there. Frank Zambo Anguissa is still working away from the main group and continues to train separately, a clear sign he is highly unlikely to feature against Fiorentina. The midfield balance that he brings will again have to be found elsewhere.
Napoli will also travel without Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci, Scott McTominay, Giovane, Alex Meret and Alisson Santos, stripping depth from multiple areas of the pitch and forcing the coach into further reshuffles.
The timing is awkward. Napoli finally snapped a three-game losing run across all competitions last weekend, grinding out a 1-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Maradona to steady nerves and restore a measure of belief.
Now comes the harder part: protecting that fragile momentum in Florence with a patched‑up squad and key figures watching from the stands.
