Swansea's Ross Stewart Out with Quad Injury

Swansea City’s wait to properly unleash Ross Stewart will drag on into next month, with the Scotland striker expected to miss the club’s next four matches because of a quad injury.

Stewart, 30, sat out Tuesday night’s Championship win over Watford, having already missed last Saturday’s victory at Derby County. His Swansea career has barely begun: just one outing from the bench, an 11-minute cameo in the goalless draw with Sheffield United 11 days ago, since signing a three-year deal last month.

Now comes another pause.

The forward is set to be sidelined for Saturday’s home game against Wrexham, followed by next Tuesday’s trip to Southampton, the club where he previously played. After that, he is also expected to miss the fixtures against Burnley and Lincoln City in the run-up to the international break at the end of the month.

“Ross had a soft tissue injury, not massive, but probably he can return in the international break,” head coach Vitor Matos said, offering a cautious timeline rather than immediate relief.

For a Swansea side that moved smartly to bring Stewart in as a focal point for their attack, the stop-start beginning is an unwelcome twist. The schedule does not ease, the games keep stacking up, and the plan now is simple: get through this block, then hope the international break delivers their new striker back, finally ready to stay on the pitch.
