Tottenham Signs Martin Dubravka as Goalkeeper

Tottenham have moved first in what is shaping up to be a summer of musical chairs for Premier League goalkeepers, confirming the arrival of Martin Dubravka on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old, who has spent recent seasons at Newcastle and Burnley, will head to north London when his deal at Turf Moor expires at the end of the month. For Spurs, it is a low-risk, high-experience addition; for Dubravka, it is a late-career leap into one of the division’s most demanding spotlights.

“It’s an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family,” he said after the move was announced. “Everything moved pretty quickly and I’m really happy to be here. I’ve loved watching Roberto’s teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.

“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.”

A goalkeeper who has seen just about everything in English football now walks into a dressing room that expects to challenge on multiple fronts. He will not arrive as a project. He arrives as insurance, competition and, if needed, a ready-made starter.

United weigh up Darlow and Johnstone

While Spurs have already made their move, Manchester United are still drawing up their shortlist.

According to The Mirror, United are considering bids for Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone as they look to reinforce behind Senne Lammens. Michael Carrick wants a new goalkeeper to push the Belgian and ensure the club are not left exposed if injuries or form bite in a long season.

The decision carries extra weight because Radek Vitek could leave Old Trafford this summer, with all three promoted clubs credited with an interest. If that exit materialises, United will need a dependable deputy who understands the league and can step straight into the chaos of a Premier League afternoon.

Darlow and Johnstone both tick those boxes. Neither would arrive as a marquee signing, but both offer exactly what Carrick is chasing: reliability, experience and the temperament to wait, then deliver.

Everton test West Ham’s resolve over Bowen

At the other end of the pitch, Everton are trying to prise one of the Premier League’s most productive wide forwards away from a relegated club that can ill afford to lose its biggest assets.

Football Insider report that Everton have contacted West Ham to discuss Jarrod Bowen’s availability after the Hammers’ drop into the Championship. The winger has been widely tipped to move on following relegation, and interest is expected to come from higher up the table.

For now, Bowen is said to be in no rush. He wants to assess offers from different clubs before deciding his next step. It is a sensible stance from a player who knows this contract could define the prime years of his career.

Everton’s enquiry is a statement of intent. Whether they can outmuscle rivals financially and convince Bowen that Goodison Park is the right stage is another question entirely.

Villa dig in over Morgan Rogers

One club not entertaining sales talk is Aston Villa. The message from Villa Park is blunt: hands off Morgan Rogers.

Sky Sports report that Villa have told Arsenal and a clutch of other admirers that the 21-year-old is not for sale. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates ahead of next season, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring him.

Villa’s stance underlines how highly they rate Rogers. In a window where creative players are attracting premium prices, they have chosen protection over profit. For Arsenal and the rest, that means looking elsewhere or testing just how firm “not for sale” really is.

Forest circle Cruzeiro’s Otavio

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are looking to South America for their next goalkeeper.

Globo Esporte report that Cruzeiro’s 20-year-old stopper Otavio has emerged as a target, with Forest preparing an official offer. The proposed bid is understood to be around £11m, a significant outlay for a player still at the beginning of his career.

Whether that figure will satisfy Cruzeiro remains unclear. Forest, though, have shown a willingness in recent windows to back their scouting department and invest in potential. Otavio would fit that pattern: young, relatively untested in Europe, but with the tools to grow into a major asset.

United line up £35m move for Anton

Back at Old Trafford, the rebuild is not limited to the goalkeeping department. Manchester United are also readying a move to strengthen the heart of their defence.

German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten report that United are preparing a £35m bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton, with Carrick having given the green light. The centre-back, currently representing Germany at the World Cup, is under contract at Dortmund until 2028.

That long deal hands Dortmund leverage, but United’s intent is clear. They want a defender in his prime, battle-hardened at the top level, to anchor the next phase of Carrick’s tenure.

From Dubravka’s steady hands at Spurs to United’s pursuit of Anton and a reshaped goalkeeping unit, from Everton’s gamble on Bowen to Villa’s refusal to blink over Rogers, the early moves are already sketching out the shape of the season to come.

The market has only just opened. The real question now is which of these early bets will still look smart when the first whistle blows.
