The atmosphere in Istanbul usually tilts the pitch. Fenerbahce will expect to feed off it and at least avoid defeat. Roma, though, carry a higher ceiling and a sharper structure.

United’s story is different. Michael Carrick has four points from his first three Premier League games and a restless fanbase watching closely. Europe can either steady the mood or deepen the questions. This trip should help.

The injury picture complicates things. Marcus Rashford is a doubt after limping off against Everton. Manuel Ugarte and Amad Diallo are also sidelined. Benjamin Sesko could step into the starting role up front. The summer window brought fresh legs and fresh ideas: Carlos Baleba from Brighton, Andrey Santos from Chelsea, and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, whose versatility gives Carrick options in midfield.

Slavia Praha vs RC Lens: A Chance to Reset

Slavia Praha own their domestic league. Europe has been a different story. Last season’s Champions League campaign ended with them as one of three teams in the League Phase without a single win. That stings. This is their shot at a reset.

Lens arrive from France with their own problems. Their recent European history is thin, and they come into this fixture on the back of consecutive defeats in Ligue 1. Balancing domestic survival with a proper tilt at the Champions League league phase could stretch them.

Slavia have their own absentees: Lukas Provod, David Zima and Tomas Holes are all out. Even so, they will feel this is their moment. Lens lean heavily on Florian Thauvin, their standout attacking midfielder and main creative spark.

Prague will demand a response from Slavia after last season’s European disappointment. At home, with that memory still raw, they should have enough to finally claim a Champions League win.

Cesc Fabregas has built a side with a clear identity and serious talent. In the No. 10 role, 22-year-old Nico Paz is already being talked about as a natural heir to Lionel Messi for Argentina. On one wing, Croatian international Martin Baturina brings craft; on the other, Senegal’s Assane Diao adds direct running and aggression. Moise Kean offers a muscular option at striker.
