Vincent Kompany Dismisses Bayern Munich Transfer Claims

Vincent Kompany has slapped down claims of a bust-up with Bayern Munich’s hierarchy over their summer transfer business, dismissing the story as pure fiction ahead of his side’s Bundesliga clash with Schalke.

Reports in Germany had suggested the Bayern coach held a "long conversation" with the board after growing frustrated at the lack of a third marquee signing. Bayern brought in Morocco international Ismael Saibari and left-back Nathaniel Brown, but speculation from SportBild claimed Kompany had pushed for more heavyweight arrivals and had to be talked down.

He was having none of it.

"Well, you pulled that information out of the AI cloud," Kompany snapped when asked about the report. He made it clear he normally refuses to be drawn into internal matters, stressing: "What we discuss internally is ultimately an internal matter." Being quizzed about a story he considers completely made up, he admitted, was "a bit mad".

The message from the club’s sporting leadership backed him up. Sporting director Christoph Freund underlined that the relationship between Kompany and the recruitment department remains intact and aligned, despite the noise around the window.

Bayern chose to lean into youth for the final places in the squad, a deliberate shift rather than a failure to close another blockbuster deal. According to the club, that approach was mapped out in advance and signed off by everyone involved, including the head coach.

"We were in daily contact with Vincent. But we never spoke about anything like that," Freund told reporters, brushing aside the idea of secret demands or simmering tensions.

While the transfer narrative rumbled on outside, Kompany’s focus inside the club walls has turned to something far more important: Jamal Musiala’s health.

The gifted playmaker has been dealing with worrying health issues after collapsing on the pitch, an incident that understandably sent shockwaves through the squad. Kompany, though, struck a cautiously optimistic tone as he outlined the latest on Musiala’s condition before the trip to Schalke.

He stressed that Musiala is under the best possible medical supervision and has been responding well in training sessions. "For him, things are looking up again. We have been dealing with this for a long time," Kompany said, indicating that the situation is being carefully monitored rather than brushed aside.

The coach added that if such an episode were to recur only once every "40, 50, or 60 games," it would no longer be considered a major cause for alarm within the club’s assessment.

For Bayern, the noise around transfers will fade. The real test now lies on the pitch – and in how they protect and manage one of their brightest talents in Musiala as the season gathers pace.
