Manchester United Pursue Francisco Conceicao as Key Winger for 2026

Manchester United’s rebuild under Michael Carrick has moved at speed this summer. Five signings already through the door, a Champions League return on the horizon, and a clear idea of how this team should look. Now comes the next piece of the puzzle: a winger who can unpick tight games on his own.

That search has led them to Turin – and to Francisco Conceicao.

Carrick’s ideal winger

According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Carrick has marked Conceicao down as a priority target for the summer of 2026, viewing the Juventus and Portugal international as a perfect fit for his evolving United side.

The 23-year-old has built a reputation in Serie A as one of the league’s most dangerous right-sided wingers, a player who thrives in isolation, demands the ball to feet and then goes to work. Last season he produced four goals and five assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Juventus, numbers that only tell part of the story of his influence.

Carrick, the report states, is particularly drawn to three things: Conceicao’s ability to beat defenders, his knack for carving out chances, and his comfort operating on either flank. For a United side looking to add chaos and incision in the final third, that profile is gold dust.

At Old Trafford, the recruitment drive has already been aggressive. Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Andrey Santos, Tynan Thompson and Youri Tielemans have all arrived, with United targeting a third midfield signing and a striker to support Benjamin Sesko. The intent is obvious: build depth, add quality, and give Carrick the tools to attack on multiple fronts next season.

Conceicao, in that context, is less a luxury and more a statement. A winger signed not just to provide width, but to tilt games.

Juventus set their price

There is, however, a major obstacle. Juventus do not want to sell.

Conceicao is under contract in Turin until 2030, a long-term commitment that underlines how highly the Bianconeri rate him. TuttoJuve report that the Italian club have placed a minimum valuation of €50 million (around £43m, $57.4m) on the winger – and even that figure comes with a warning label.

“Anyone wishing to acquire Conceicao will have to make a very significant offer,” the outlet notes, adding that Juventus see that price as a route to a sizeable capital gain on the investment they made just a year ago. More importantly, it reflects the belief inside the club that Conceicao is central to their future.

The stance is firm. Juventus view the Portuguese wide man as a perfect fit for Luciano Spalletti’s plans and have not listed him among the players available for transfer in this window. The message from Turin is blunt: he is not on the market.

Only a bid described as “truly unmarketable” – an offer so large it reshapes the conversation – would tempt the hierarchy to even consider parting with him.

United’s next big call

So the situation is clear. United admire Conceicao. Carrick, in particular, sees him as a winger tailored to the Premier League: explosive in one-on-one duels, unpredictable, and capable of playing on both sides of the pitch. Juventus, though, are in no mood to negotiate and have armed themselves with a long contract and a firm valuation.

INEOS, now driving United’s sporting project, must decide how far they are willing to go. Is Conceicao the wide player they build around in 2026, the one they break the bank for? Or does this pursuit become another reminder that, at the very top of the market, ambition only gets you so far without an extraordinary offer to match?
