Newcastle to Pay €11 Million to Al-Ahli for Matthias Jaissle

Reports indicate that Newcastle United has finalized the compensation amount they will pay Saudi club Al-Ahli to secure German coach Matthias Jaissle. The coach resigned from Al-Ahli on Thursday, paving the way for him to lead Newcastle next season, replacing Eddie Howe.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that Newcastle is set to pay around 11 million euros to bring Jaissle to the Premier League. Jaissle is expected to arrive this Saturday for his official presentation as Newcastle’s sporting director, signing a contract that extends until 2030.

Jaissle had been close to agreeing on a similar four-year deal with Al-Ahli, but negotiations stalled over a clause he requested. He wanted a guarantee of full payment if he was dismissed, which the Saudi club declined.

Jaissle’s Impact at Al-Ahli

Since taking charge in 2023 after South African coach Pitso Mosimane, Jaissle led Al-Ahli to notable success. His tenure includes winning two AFC Champions League Elite titles and a Saudi Super Cup—the club’s first in nine years.
